Host interface
R2026bSelect whether Simulink or a third-party calibration tool serves as the host application for external mode communication
Model Configuration Pane: Hardware Implementation / Hardware board settings / Target hardware resources / External mode
Description
Select the host application that communicates with the Arduino® board during external mode. This parameter determines whether Simulink® or a third-party calibration tool (such as CANape® or INCA) monitors signals and tunes parameters on the target.
Dependencies
To enable this parameter, set Communication interface to either XCP on
CAN or XCP on Serial.
Settings
Simulink | Third party calibration toolsSimulink(default)Use Simulink as the host interface for external mode. Simulink connects to the Arduino board to monitor signals and tune parameters in real time. The Monitor & Tune button is enabled on the Hardware tab.
Third party calibration toolsUse a third-party calibration tool (such as CANape or INCA) as the host interface. Simulink generates an A2L file during the build process that describes the memory layout of tunable parameters and observable signals. Load this A2L file into the calibration tool to connect to the Arduino board independently.
When this option is selected for
XCP on CAN, the Monitor & Tune button is disabled. Use Build for Monitoring instead. Configure the host-side CAN hardware directly in the calibration tool.
