Configure Driver in Oscilloscope Explorer

To configure and verify the driver for the oscilloscope, use the following steps. The Configure tab opens when you choose a device from the app home page.

There are two ways to open the Configure tab:

• Click an existing hardware card — If your oscilloscope is detected automatically, its card appears under All Hardware. The Resource, Model, and Vendor parameters are pre-populated. Proceed to the Test section.

• Click Configure New Oscilloscope — If your oscilloscope is not automatically detected, click Configure New Oscilloscope to manually specify the connection. You must complete the Test Resources section before proceeding.

Test Resources Section

This section is available when you click Configure New Oscilloscope.

1. Select the communication Interface: TCP/IP VXI-11, TCP/IP HiSLIP, or TCP/IP Socket.

2. Enter the Resource string for your oscilloscope (for example, TCPIP::192.168.1.1::INSTR). Alternatively, click Generate Resource to construct the resource name.

3. Optionally, edit the Identification Command text box. The default is *IDN?.

4. Click Verify Resource to test the connection. On success, the Model, Vendor, and Connection Status parameters are populated.

Install Section

If no driver is installed for your oscilloscope model:

1. Click Install Driver to open the IVI Foundation Driver Registry website.

2. On the IVI Foundation website, select the Instrument Class as IviScope.

3. Select a Driver Type of IVI-C and IVI-COM/IVI-C.

4. In the Keywords text box, type the model number that was specified in the Model parameter in the Oscilloscope Explorer, and search.

5. Click the link (orange list of supported models) corresponding to your oscilloscope model, and proceed with installation.

   If the model number is not found on this website, search the web to install the driver for your oscilloscope model.

Test Section

Click Verify Driver to check whether the correct driver is successfully installed. If installation was successful, the Driver parameter is populated with the matching driver name.

If the Driver parameter remains empty after clicking Verify Driver, the driver is not installed or is not recognized. Return to the Install section to install the correct driver. You might need to restart MATLAB^® after installing a new driver.

Confirm Parameters Section

Click Confirm Parameters to attempt a connection to the oscilloscope. The app validates the resource and driver settings and connects to the device.

• On success, the Connection Status displays Successful, and the app transitions to the Explorer tab.

• On failure, an error is generated. Verify that the correct driver is installed and that the resource string is valid.

Click Cancel at any time to return to the app home page.
