Satellite Gravity Field Missions: Simulation Scenarios
Mission scenarios of CHAMP, GRACE and GOCE have been simulated to provide a unique easily accessible data set for various comparisons. The data set covers a time period of 30 days and includes the velocities, accelerations, and for GOCE the tensor components for specified gravity fields and reference frame specifications. The simulation scenarios are simplified in so far as there is no noise on the data for the GPS-orbits, for CHAMP and GRACE data sets. SRON, the Netherlands Space Agency, provided various error models for the tensor components of GOCE. Details are given in the readme-files and additional information material on mathematical details is included. The data sets should be used for investigations related to satellite borne gravity field missions, especially to compare
• global and/or regional recovery techniques,
• spherical harmonics (each parameter and degree variances) and gravity functionals in (geographic) blocks (center point and mean block values),
• gravity functionals in (geographic) blocks (center point and mean block) values in the region specified in the data sheet.
