What is the advantage of Help with web connection

It seems MATLAB help switch recently by default on "Web documentation"

It kind of anoying where the doc is available locally. What is the advantage and disabvantage of the choice?

How recently? I don't see it in R2020b.

It seems it comes with R2021a

It could make sense to give users access to the most up-to-the minute documentation by default. For example, any documentation bugs that existed at the time of installation might have been fixed in the online version.

Also, does a local copy of the documentation still get installed by default? If not, I guess it might be part of an effort to speed up installation and reduce memory footprint for all except the specific users who truly need to work locally.

Yes, since the local option is proposed. And I hope they don't discard the fact that user might work offline.
