Long term support of ActiveX

Hello,
is there any further information about the long-term support of activeX components?
Currently I am using "actxcontrol" to show an activeX control in MATLAB 2017a.
The documentation states that this function will be removed in a feature release. I know that GUIDE (which can host activeX controls) will be replaced by the App Designer (which can not host activeX controls). Will activeX support be completely removed too?

If you have use cases that would not be satisfied by the recommendations on that page, please send information on your use case to Technical Support (using the telephone icon in the upper-right corner of this page) and work with them to determine if there is an alternative that will work for you and/or ask them to capture this information for the development staff to consider.
