Error with RNG - "Insufficient number of outputs"

Hi, I get errors from RNG, and have been unable to figure out why. The errors appear in all versions of matlab that I have installed (2015a, 2015b, 2016a). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
>> rng('shuffle')
Error using rng (line 140)
Insufficient number of outputs from right hand side of equal sign to satisfy assignment.
% Break point inserted into RNG
>> rng(10000)
133 s = RandStream(gentype,'Seed',seed); % RandStream handles the compatibility names
K>> s = RandStream(gentype,'Seed',seed);

Error in RandStream.algName (line 730)
