Are there any simple model for a shaft generator out there?

A shaft generator is a generator that is coupled to an engine which may be running at variable speed yet generates output power with constant frequency and voltage through variable converters.

I'm doing a comparison study on shaft generators using different types of converter both mechanical (using CVT) and electrical (using switches)
